Dear Editor,
I made my home just as I always had this past week, listening to music, reflecting on work and making my way through the city streets. The small white truck in front of me seemed to be doing the same but suddenly out of a side street a car hit the back tire and flipped it over. I called 911 and then ran to the upside down pickup. Glass was everywhere and gas was beginning to pour out onto the street. This was getting dangerous fast and the driver was hanging upside down as a group of great people came running to assist in any way they could.
When the police arrived just seconds later they literally dove into the glass to release the seat belt and pried the door open to get the man out quickly. They were on their stomachs, reaching into the broken windows, doing everything they could. Once they got him out I noted that two of the police officers had cuts on their arms and hands. Blood dripping from their uniforms as they helped get the man into the ambulance.
