SIKESTON – Jennie Johnson has been named director of finance and human resources for the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

“I'm excited to carry forward the valuable work that the previous directors of finance have always done,” Johnson said. “The food bank’s mission is important to me, and I am honored to have a role in carrying it out.”

Johnson has been with the food bank for more than six years.

“In her time here, Jennie has served the food bank in a variety of roles in the finance and HR departments,” said Joey Keys, SEMO Food Bank’s chief executive officer. “She has a strong understanding of the organization, financials, and responsibilities of the job.”

Southeast Missouri Food Bank serves 80,000 individuals each month through a network of 140 partner agencies and other programs. The food bank’s 16-county service area has some of the highest rates of hunger in the state, with one in six neighbors and one in five children living in food-insecure homes.

According to the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, its mission is to end hunger and leverage the power of food to build healthy communities. The food bank provides food to 140 charitable and disaster relief programs in Southeast Missouri. These member agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, domestic violence and homeless shelters. Southeast Missouri Food Bank also holds regular mobile food distributions. It provides monthly boxes of food to 5,575 senior citizens and weekend backpacks of food during the school year to 1,200 students in area school districts.

The food bank’s 16-county coverage area includes Perry, Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Dunklin, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Ste.
