Oliver Gene Bachmann, 90, of Perryville, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024.

He was born May 4, 1934 in Crosstown to Henry and Hedwig (Oster) Bachmann.

He graduated from PHS in 1952 and served in the US Army from January 1954 to December 1955. After training, he was deployed to Korea. He and Alice Lydia Mangels were married at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar on June 7, 1958. Oliver was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown.

He was a member of Zion Men’s Club and Lutheran Laymen’s League, American Legion Post 133, and Honor Guard, Perry County Farm Bureau, Perry County Pork Producers, Salem Lutheran School Board, 4-H project leader, and Perry County Industrial Development Authority. Ollie, as he was known by friends and family, was a self-employed farmer of livestock and row crops.

Survivors include daughter, Teresa (Randy) Leible; two sons, Kevin (JoAnn) and Neal (Mary) Bachmann; sisters, Aileen Hadler and Betty Bischoff; 10 grandchildren, Jacob (Bethany), Andrew (Bridget), Michael (Brooke), Levi (Alyssa Hartman), Lydia, Rachel, and Samuel Bachmann, Amber (Terry) Enderle, Becky (Tony) Miesner, Wade (Marisa Britt) Leible; 13 (soon to be 14) great grandchildren and senior friend, Lorna Bachmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; two sisters, Verna Boggan and Helen Dickman; brother, Hubert Bachmann and great-grandson, Beau Bachmann.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 8:00 am to 9:50 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 11, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church Crosstown with Rev. John Hellwege officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Crosstown with Military Honors provided by the Delta Team & American Legion Post #133. Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Crosstown or KFUO radio.
