Letter to the Editor: Israel

Dear Editor
Little more than three weeks after my birth here in a little, essentially one bedroom house on the outskirts of Perryville, Missouri, hopefully without a tremendous amount of trauma on that part of my poor dear Mom; bless her heart, the infant nation of Israel was given birth, thanks frankly to Jewish/Israeli terrorism and the acquiescence of the post WW2 British Mandate in Palestine amidst massive tumult after a 66-year gestation bred from multiple European pogroms and culminating in the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust.
While I’m sure I was lovingly ensconced, protected and pampered from the beginning by the constant loving care of my mother, grandmother and aunts, despite my predilections and predisposition to let myself, my needs and my desires to be voluminously and voraciously well known; some 800,000 Jewish settlers from everywhere in Europe who gave birth to the Jewish State of Israel in May of 1948, found themselves immediately, ravenously, physically attacked from every side by the Arab fiefdoms/insipient states surrounding them. Why? Almost universally a virulent, nationalist, Muslim, political polemic bred in closed minds, closed hearts and closed souls.
Nevertheless, they continuously courageously persevered and expanded their skeletal little state through almost continuous conflicts, from their birth, through attack after attack from strutting Arab rulers in Syria, Egypt, Iraq, etc. and amidst continuous immigration from Europe, North America and elsewhere over the next 75 years, with America’s strong support, the so traumatized and put upon nation of Israel has achieved a regional preeminence which has allowed, let’s be honest, its current leaders to gradually increasingly disdain the rights of individual poor Palestinians ensconced in what were originally short term “temporary” refugee camps in the West Bank and what came to be called the “Gaza Strip”….. a tiny strip of desert at the south end of Israel which came to be the home of 2 and a quarter million Palestinians.
What does this mean to us as Christ blessed human beings?

Think about those two and a quarter million human beings in the tiny little strip of desert which is Gaza and the additional three million human beings in the West Bank who have increasingly been marginalized by their ostensible “representatives” and the Israeli “leadership”.
In October of 2023, increasingly desperate and dysfunctional, our fellow human beings, not listened to, not heard, politically politicized, desperately lashing out… with the political polemic of religion, hatred, fear and idiocy, a desperate political faction in Gaza, lashed out, inflicting abysmal hurt on their fellow human beings.
Is this, in any way focused on a solution to our human trauma? Let’s look at a functional, human solution. It’s up to us. We are Christ blessed human beings. It’s up to us!
