Theresa M. Webb, 88, of Perryville, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
Theresa was born to Christian and Frieda (Leible) Renner on September 18, 1934 in Friedheim, MO.
Theresa and Earl Monroe Webb were married July 9, 1960 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Applecreek. He preceded her on February 17, 1991.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Theresa was the oldest of nine children, she spent her childhood helping on her parents farm and attending school. She sometimes reminisced of her father, lantern in hand, walking several miles to grade school early each morning, and numerous chores she and her brothers and sisters had to do on the farm before and after school. As a young woman, Theresa worked making shoes at the International Shoe Factory in Perryville. After marrying her sweetheart in the 60’s, she and Earl began raising their family in Cape Girardeau. Theresa and Earl, both lifelong devout Catholics, later moved the family to Perryville where their children all graduated from St. Vincent High School, in Perryville. Theresa enjoyed visiting the National Shrine to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and she and her sisters once traveled to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL - a trip she recalled fondly. Later in life, when traveling to church was too difficult, she celebrated a daily televised Mass.
Theresa was a dedicated Cardinal’s Baseball fan. She was also an avid gardener for years she tended a large garden that provided her family year-round fresh and canned vegetables and fruit. As a rural farm girl born during the Great Depression, Theresa knew the importance of hard work and making-do with what you have, values she practiced daily and instilled to her children. Even at eighty years old, she was not one to sit idly by and watch others do things - she mowed her own yard, kept her own garden, and cleaned her own gutters. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting with her beloved sisters, and making wonderful dinners and treats for her family. Above all, Theresa was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who cherished spending time with family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
