Gerald Robert Guemmer, 74, of Jacksonville, AL, formerly of Perryville, died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital.
He was born November 23, 1949 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Robert and Viola (Koenig) Guemmer.
He and Ramona Ingram were married on September 19, 2016 in Las Vegas, NV.
Gerald served in the United States Navy on the USS Agerholm. Once he returned from the Vietnam War, he worked commercial construction as a project manager for ICS Construction Services and Newground in St. Louis, MO . He was a proud member of American Legion Post #57 in Jacksonville, AL and American Legion Post #133 Perryville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching and cheering on the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sarah (Jacob) Fiehler; son, Billy Thomas; two brothers, Donald (Gail) Guemmer, Timothy (Elizabeth) Guemmer; two sisters, Connie Lausen, Debra Masiel; four grandchildren, Ella and Vivian Fiehler, Brenden and Emma Thomas, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Service will be at 1 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2026 at Ford & Young Funeral Home.
Committal Service will be at 10 am Friday, April 26, 2024 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Wounded Warrior Project or Missouri National Veterans Memorial in Perryville.
