Drew Korando (left) and Trent Unterreiner were recently named assistant coaches for the Perryville baseball program during the Perry County School District Board of Education meeting on Aug. 10.
Perryville head coach Donald O'Keefe hopes that they will be valuable to the program for years to come.
"When I started to look at filling the two vacancies on our coaching staff it was important to find people that had certain attributes. Both Trent and Drew filled these attributes.
1. Both have a strong work ethic, they are passionate about the game and they want to see PHS Baseball back to where it was when they played at PHS.

2. Both want to come back to Perry County to teach and coach within the community where they grew up.
3. Both have a reputation for being good people and they will be positive role models within the baseball program and out in the community.
Both coaches will wear multiple hats for this program. Not only will they help to teach the players that are in our program, but they will also help to develop the younger athletes that will one day be future Pirates."
Unterreiner graduated from Perryville High School in 2018 and went on to play at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Ill. Unterreiner was an infielder while in college.
Korando is a 2019 graduate from Perryville and went on to play at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Ill, where he was primiarily a catcher.
