SV, Saxony track send athletes to state

The St. Vincent and Saxony Lutheran track teams will be sending athletes to the pinnacle of competition. Both the Indians and Crusaders competed at the Class 2 Sectionals on May 11 at Park Hills and performed well.
Reagan Meyer was the most decorated athlete of the day for St. Vincent as she won the 800 meter run (2:25.46) and the 1,600 meter run (5:22.03) on the day to qualify for the state meet. Meyer will also compete in the 400 meter dash after finishing second (57.79), which means she will compete in three total events.
Jacob Schremp was nearly as prolific on the day as he won the javelin event with a throw of 160-10 feet. He also finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 142-9.0.
Clayton Gremaud finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.27 seconds.
There were several Indians who narrowly missed out qualifying for state, as they all finished fifth in their respective events: Girls 4x400 relay, Reese Zollener (pole vault), Carter Hennemann (1,600 meter run), Boys 4x800 relay.
For Saxony, Casey Call was the biggest winner, coming in first place in the pole vault at 9-6. Call nearly qualified in the high jump as well, but finished fifth. Abigail Haley finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.98 seconds) and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (48.79).
Rebecca Yunck finished fourth in the javelin at 98-3.25.

On the boys side, John Hartmann finished second in the high jump (6-4.0)
Perryville
Perryville track will send multiple athletes on to the sectional meet. The Pirates competed in the Class 4, District 1 meet on May 11 at Festus High School.
Ellie Gerler will move on to sectionals in the shot put and discus. Gerler threw a 113-9.25 in the discus to finish in the top spot in the meet. She also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 33-10.25.
Katie Farrow finished fourth in the pole vault clearing 10 feet and moving onto state. The mark set a new school record in the event for girls.
On the boys side, Ben Huber finished first in the discus with a distance of 142-4.75, while Aden Garris finished fourth in the 100 meter dash (11.40).
The boys 4x800 relay team of Kayd Luckey, Micah Brown, Bair Hopkins, and Porter Johnson finished second at 8:21.87.
