Letter to the Editor: We need better healthcare!

Mercy must be getting nervous! A full page ad in the paper?! A full page ad in the Cape paper?! This should be an indication of frivolous spending, resulting in higher health costs!
At the first public forum, Mercy and SE were invited to speak but Mercy didn’t respond or show up. SE was presented by president Ken Bateman.
Mercy had to have a private public meeting! They were represented by “4” people from the Festus hospital! No one from the main office that should be making the decision. It appears PCMH will just be an arm to Festus!
A patient of a local hospital in St. Louis had an appointment with their regular on-staff specialist. When they got there their regular Dr. had been replaced. She would not listen to the patient and they finally insisted she read their past patient file. They were told they could not access any previous files, since Mercy took over. Another new advanced technology?
Do we want these big city, high-powered actions? If they disrupt a St. Louis hospital, a lot larger than PCMH, what do you think they’ll do to PCMH?
At the last forum, I didn’t see any representation from Mercy! But President Ken Bateman, and others, were there from SE Health!
I empathize with the employees at PCMH, the certainty of the future. I didn’t think it was necessary to let employees leave early, with pay, to attend the last public forum. I feel the employees most concerned are the ones that aren’t really doing a good job! A good employee has a feeling of security. It was extremely rude to boo Frank Robinson! He built his company to a respected, dependable national company. He did not do this without employees and customers respecting him.

Chris Wibbenmeyer, you speak of your experience in the radiology department. Where did you receive your degree in hospital administration?
SE Health has been established in Perry County for a number of years. Apparently, they are highly accepted. When I call for an appointment, they seem to be booked up, but if it is an emergency they will call Cape ER and notify them of your arrival. Cape ER will be expecting you and you get immediate attention.
PC commissioners do not let big city corporate intimidate you! You were elected by the Perry County voters, please vote for our better healthcare – not advanced technology! More full-time Dr.’s!
Mercy’s platform is advanced technology. We do not need “video-health”! What percentage of the population would use this? What percentage could afford this? After all, we’re talking about someone to monitor this, 24 hours, seven days a week! Can they REALLY diagnose a patient by video?
Let’s get full-time Dr.’s on our staff, no t once a week, or a month. Are we going to get a seat on Mercy’s main board of directors? Or are twe going to be kept in the dark on decisions? At SE we will have two of our members on their board (I would call that transparency!).
