Joseph M. Favier, age 72, was received into the arms of Christ on June 10, 2023.
Joe lived a life that he loved. He will long be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, veteran, volunteer, coach, leader and friend.
At 18 months old, Joe was adopted by the Wallace (Si) and Augusta (Gussie) Gagnepain family of Perryville. From them he learned of unconditional love, acceptance and the blessing of family. He went through life reaching out to others, accepting others, supporting, comforting and giving, knowing that the Lord had given him many blessings.
Joe was a practicing Catholic with a strong devotion to Mary.
He graduated from St. Vincent High school in 1968. Through the years he was very active in the SV Alumni Association. Upon graduating high school Joe went to trade school to become a certified electrician.
Joe served our country in the United States Army from 1970-1972.
Joe married his soul mate, the former Patricia Walter on May 23, 1975. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage. She survives along with Joe’s pride and joy, his two children; Natalie and Ben.
As a successful entrepreneur, he loved working with his son Ben in their family wholesale distribution business. He loved spending time with his daughter Natalie. He was delighted to welcome Jon White into the family and had a special relationship with him and his three grandchildren; Jocelyn, Jordan & Jackson White.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Gagnepain; sister-in-law, Peggy Gagnepain; brother-in-law, Tony Brenner; father-in-law, Glennon “Bud” Walter; mother-in-law, Stella Walter.
With his adventurous spirit and kind heart, Joe was many things to many people. From former Little League baseball players to high school football players, they will say they have lost the man who inspired them. Friends will say they have lost their leader of fishing and golf outings as well as trips to Mizzou football games. Family and extended family members will say they have lost their shepherd while God has said, “Alleluia, Joe, you’re home!”
Visitation will be from 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with Rosary Recital at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
