James ‘Jim’ G. Sauer, 65, of Perryville, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 31, 1958 in Perryville, to Raymond August and Evelyn Elizabeth (Schumer) Sauer.
Jim and Mary Wichern Sauer were married June 30, 1979 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage, she survives him in Perryville.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.

Jim worked in the Aviation Industry for 20 years. Beginning with Rockwell Avaiation where he did wood work & electrical work customizing the interior of aircraft. He then was a plant manager at Seguin Moreau in Brewer, MO for 16 years. He then returned to Saberliner at McBride, MO. Lastly Jim worked at TG-USA in Perryville. He was a member of VFW Post 4282 Auxiliary, Sportsmans Club, River Hills Eagles Lodge 2701 all of Perryville. Jim loved spending time with his wife, daughter, son and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved everyone’s company. He loved the outdoors. In his free time he liked to drive his side by side, spend time on his family farm, go hunting with his son and make trips to Florida to see his daughter and her family. He loved watching Cardinals baseball games whether they were winning or losing. He enjoyed going on many adventures with his granddaughters. Jim was a kind and loving person with a good heart. He boldly battled cancer with his usual grace, spirit and humor. We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care he received from his oncologist team and Crown Hospice Care.
Survivors include mother, daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Williams of Oak Harbor, WA; son, Travis (Fiancée Brittany Miller) Sauer of Perryville, MO; two brothers, Rick Sauer of Pensacola, FL, Mike (Devora) Sauer of Perryville, MO; sister, Ellen (Paul) Koeper of Jackson, MO; four grandchildren, Christa (Yeri) Hampton, Audry Sauer, Madisyn Williams, Alexa Williams.He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in the Dogwood Chapel at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Visitation will continue from 8-9:30 am on Friday, September 22, 2023, with the Rosary recited at 8:45 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 10am at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Fr. Clay Kilburn C.M. officiating.
Inurnment will be announced and held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville at a future date. Memorial contributions may be given to Association of the Miraculous Medal or Crown Hospice.
