Harold and Mary Ann Zahner

Harold Edward Zahner passed away on January 31, 2024 in San Pedro, CA. Harold’s wife of fifty-four years, Mary Ann (nee Jeldum), preceded him in death on January 27, 2024. Harold was born in October, 1941 in St. Louis to Lawrence and Gladys Zahner (Geile) and was raised in Perryville. He attended St. Vincent’s High School, graduated from Southeast Missouri State College in 1962 and earned his Law Degree from St. Louis University in 1967. He was appointed to the U.S. Dept. of Justice Honors Program. He served in the Army from 1967-69 in the Criminal Investigation Division. Mary Ann was born in Seattle WA in January, 1933. She was raised in the San Pedro area graduating from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach, CA. She graduated Long Beach State in 1961 and earned a MA in Education in 1964.
Harold and Mary Ann met in Germany and were married in 1970. After spending a few years in St. Louis, they moved to San Pedro. Mary Ann worked as a Special Education Teacher and Harold joined Unocal Oil serving as Deputy General Counsel for twenty-four years before entering private practice.
After he retired he and Mary Ann had many adventures traveling around the world. They had a deep appreciation for culture, art, and the grandeur and beauty of the many places they visited.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, Harold is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Richard. He is survived by a sister, Carol Owens (Paul). Mary Ann is predeceased by her parents, by her brothers, Daniel and Rudy, and is survived by sisters Dena and Yvonne and a sister-in-law Dinka Jeldum.

Harold and Mary Ann will be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake, MO on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Funeral Mass and burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake, on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent’s Education Foundation or to the The Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorriorproject.org)
