David Roy Ashby, 23, died Thursday, August 3, 2023 in a work-related accident.
He was born January 24, 2000, in Perryville, to Michael Ashby Jr. and Stephanie Watkins.
He attended Woodland High School in Marble Hill where he was involved in Basketball, Cross Country, Track and FFA. David excelled in cross country and track helping bring home district titles in 2015-2017 in track and a 4th place state finish in 2016 in cross country.
Loving survivors include his wife, Alexis of Steeleville, IL.; two daughters, Paisley and Violet; his mother, Stephanie of Jackson; stepfather, Donnie Watkins of Marble Hill; four siblings, Shane Ashby of Perryville; Aaron Watkins of Patton; Molly Watkins of Perryville; and Tristen Watkins of Marble Hill; maternal grandmother, Vicki Schultz of Van Buren, AR; multiple aunts and uncles including Michael Roy Davis of Van Buren, AR; Atha Prince of Van Buren, AR.; Jennifer Prince of Springdale, AR.; Derek Schultz of Van Buren, AR.; Jason Ashby of Valle Mines, MO.; and Mark Ashby of Irondale, MO.; stepgrandmother Karen Ashby; numerous cousins; extended family, the Steinberg family, Jennifer, Zachary, Alex, Jacob, Hannah, Caleb, Abbey and Katherine; Michelle Ashby; John David Ashby; Sharon and Don Dinkins; Jessica and Alan Blattel; Stacey Dinkins; Billy Dinkins; Brian Dinkins; Denise Kinder; and numerous friends, classmates, teammates, teachers and coaches from the Woodland School District.
David Roy was preceded in death by his father Michael Ashby Jr.; paternal grandparents Michael Ashby Sr. and Gail Anne Hogge; and step grandmother Joan Brewster.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 24 at the Mayfield Event Center, 209 Mayfield Drive, Marble Hill, MO., 63764, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friends and family are asked to bring and share photos, memories and stories about David Roy Ashby. A Facebook event page will be created for family and friends for any questions and updates.
