SV baseball earns three unanimous JCAA honors

The St. Vincent baseball team pulled in quite the haul when it came to postseason recognitions. Six players were named to the Jefferson County Athletic Association-Small School Division All-Conference team when the honors were recently announced.
Three of those players were unanimous selections to the first team.
Senior Blake Monier (pitcher), junior Christian Schaaf (infield), and Trevor Moonier (outfield) were picked by every coach. Moonier was also an honorable mention infielder as well.
Other selections were senior Liam Krauss as second team utility player. Krauss was also an honorable mention outfielder.
Senior Grant Abernathy was named an honorable mention pitcher and sophomore Jacob Seabaugh was named honorable mention catcher.
Monier was the Indians’ ace on the mound, going 5-3 in nine starts with a 1.72 earned run average and 43 strikeouts in 52.2 innings. Monier pitched nearly twice as many innings as any other St. Vincent pitcher this season.
Schaaf was second on the team with a .377 batting average with eight doubles and 13 RBI. He also scored 21 runs and stole 10 bases.

Moonier led the team with a .403 average with five doubles and four triples. He also drove in eight runs and scored another 18 with 13 stolen bases.
Krauss hit for a .304 average with seven doubles and hit the only home run for St. Vincent this season. He was tied for second on the team with 17 RBI and scored 14 runs. On the mound, Krauss appeared in eight games and went 3-2 with one save. He struck out 24 batters in 20.2 innings this spring.
On the mound, Abernathy appeared in 10 games, which was the most of any Indian. He went 4-0with a 3.97 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.
Seabaugh hit .250 with four doubles and 17 RBI this season as St. Vincent’s primary catcher.
The Indians went 15-9 this past spring.
All District
Along with the conference honors, Krauss, Monier, Schaaf, and Moonier were named to the Class 2, District 3 team. The Indians reached the district championship game before falling to top seed Chaffee 6-3.
