Schaaf named JCAA Co-POY, SV team earns five honors

The St. Vincent baseball team is well-represented when it comes to postseason honors.
The Indians garnered five Jefferson County Athletic Association Small Schools All-Conference honors when they were recently announced.
Senior Christian Schaaf earned one of the top achievements in the conference as he was named JCAA Co-Player of the Year, along with St. Pius’ Zander Street.
Schaaf was one of the most consistent players all season for St. Vincent as Schaaf hit for a .439 average with nine doubles, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored. The senior obviously named to the first team as an infielder.

Along with Schaaf, Simon Barber was named to the first team as an infielder. Barber hit for a .439 average with three doubles, seven RBI, and 20 runs scored as the lead-off man of the batting order.
Nick Buchheit earned two honors as he was named first team as a utility player, which also encompasses offense, defense, and pitching attributes. Buchheit was also named to the second team in the infield.
The junior hit for an .321 average with six doubles, 10 RBI. On the mound, Buchheit was co-stars with Jacob Seabaugh for the Indians. Buchheit started nine games for St. Vincent and struck out 39 batters on the year and had a 3.31 earned run average.
Seabaugh was named to the second team as a pitcher and was the team leader with 49 strikeouts in nine starts with a 4.01 ERA.
