Rhea Optical 20/20 opened a new branch in Perryville on Thursday. The optician/optometrist’s office main branch in Cape Girardeau was established in 1942. The Perryville location is owned by Brian Brickhaus and Steve Eammons, a former manager at JCPenny optical who has been with Rhea Optical for 27 years. Brickhaus believes the new location will allow for another alternative for eye care. “There are seven dentists and there are just two eye care centers in town,” Brickhaus said. “There is definitely room for an alternative or competition in this area for eye care.” The new location in Perryville is located at 620 N. Kingshighway Suite 30 next to Subway and provides glasses and contact exams as well as make and fit glasses on site. While Brickhaus has no real experience in the eye care world, he felt that it would be a worthwhile investment, which would excel in Perryville. “Everybody recognizes the name Rhea Optical,” Brickhaus said of his involvement in the business. “It’s a business in which I thought I could provide value.” That value can also be found in Dr. Donna Pry who will provide eye care services to Perryville. Pry has 15 years of experience at JCPenny optical and will be providing her own practice in the space. “I felt it was time for a change,” Pry said. “I’ll basically be considered an independent contractor.” Pry will provide appointments on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Cape location, 1901 Broadway and also Tuesday and Thursday at the Perryville location. Pry said that she has quite the local customer base, many from the Perryville area. “I would say that I have about 25 percent of my patients are from Perryville. Much of this is to be for their convenience,” Pry said. “There’s already a familiarity there.” The location will accept both appointments as well as walk-ins and for more information call 573-547-9390. Pry is excited to get started in Perryville in her new space. “It will certainly be different,” Pry said. “But the experience I have and the knowledge of those in the area should make this an enjoyable time as we kick this off.”
