Piranhas take 10 first place finishes at Farmington
The Perryville Piranhas swim team walked away with 10 first place finishes at the Farmington Swim Meet held June 22 in the Farmington Civic Center. Other teams competing in the event included the host, the Farmington Area Swim Team, Jackson Barracudas, River City Aquatics, Poplar Bluff Piranhas Swim Team and the Ste. Genevieve Stingrays. Emmitt Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 25 SC Meter Freestyle in 18.40 seconds and the Boys 8 & Under 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 46.12 seconds; Joshua Southard won the Boys 9-10 100 SC Meter Freestyle in 1:21.34; Eleanore Sullins won the Girls 6 & Under 25 SC Meter Freestyle in 44.17 seconds; Mackenzie Southard won the Girls 11-12 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in 41.96 seconds; Willow Sutterer won the Girls 11-12 50 SC Meter Backstroke in 39.59 seconds; and Lux Meyer won the Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 31.48 seconds, Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Backstroke in 37.01 seconds; Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in 41.13 seconds, and Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Butterfly in 35.07 seconds. The Piranhas competed in Poplar Bluff on June 29 for a Junior Olympic qualifier before hosting a home meet on Saturday. The league championship meet will be held July 13 in Cape Girardeau.
