The weather for the ninth annual Mid America Rehab 5K Rally Run & Walk, held last Saturday on the City of Perryville TG 5K Trail, couldn’t have been much better, with temperatures in the 70s, a little humidity and overcast skies at race time. There was even a bit of light rain that, if one blinked, might very well have been easily missed.

Around 210 runners/walkers began showing up early to warm up and pick up their bib numbers before the start of the race, which began just a few minutes after 7:30 a.m.

Clint Rice of Mid America Rehab was pleased with the turnout.

“I thought it was great,” he said. “That's easily the highest number of participants we've had. In general, the run continues to grow. We've got a wide variety of people running and people walking. We've also got more kids doing the event.”

Rice added that the turnout is important because that means more money is raised for the Perryville and St. Vincent High School athletic programs.

We give half of the money raised to each school,” he said. “What they do with it is up to them. We don't earmark it for anything specific other than athletic programs. We’ll be presenting the checks to the schools during halftime at the Perryville/St. Vincent football game.”

When asked if Mid America Rehab is planning to host its 10th 5K Rally Run & Walk next year, Rice said, “Absolutely.”
