CAPE GIRARDEAU — The seventh annual “Nativities Around the World” event featuring more than 500 nativities is scheduled for Dec. 6-8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,  located at 1048 W. Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau.
This free community event is the only one of its kind in the area and a great way to kick off the Christmas season. It has become a seasonal tradition for many families.
The event will take place   from 3-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, and from 3-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
On Sunday, the display will be followed by a Special Christmas Devotional broadcast via satellite from Salt Lake City featuring The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square beginning at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend.
This year’s event will feature new personal collections from individuals in the community, adding their own unique flavor and variety to the display.

The hundreds of nativities come from over 30 countries and show the great international nature of the nativity story throughout the world.
This is the seventh year of Nativities from Around the World.
Everyone is welcome to attend this family-friendly, wheelchair-accessible event.
There will also be a self-guided scavenger hunt for those who like a challenge, enjoy a bit of fun, or wish to keep children entertained.
