The Mid-America 5K will certainly be well attended this year.
The 8th annual event has a record number of registrations with more than 283 and event organizer Clint Rice couldn’t be any happier. The average number of registrations for the event is about 175.
“I know some people just make a donation or get the shirt,” he said. “Either way we should have record number of runners. Part of the number could be that the city is doing a ‘Ready, Set, Run’ program, which a 5K program. A lot of kids that are in that will be running.”
The race will take place August 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the TG Missouri Trail, with race day registration beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Anyone who wishes to race can sign up on race day for $25.
Rice said that he likes the event being held there.
“There’s a lot less concern for traffic,” Rice said. “The route is easy to follow, but it is a little hilly.”
Proceeds from the event will be split between the St. Vincent and Perryville Athletic Departments. Last year the grand total split between the schools was $5,500 and raised $32,000 in the life of the race. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each male and female age group, and also the top three finishers in the mom or dad stroller category.
“I would anticipate that this year would be higher just with the number of registrations we have had this year,” Rice said. ”All ages and abilities are welcome.”
