Man sustains injuries in I-55 crash

A 33-year-old Springfield, Ill. man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday, Aug. 4, at approximately 5:38 p.m.

Alfred L. Berry, southbound in a 2006 Ford Focus in the vicinity of milemarker 136 on Interstate 55, failed to maintain control of his vehicle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned, according to the accident report.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Perry County Ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Ives Towing.
