Legion Girls State representatives announced for this summer’s event

Moonier-Reddick American Legion Auxiliary Unit 133 chose 5 delegates to attend Missouri Girls State as well as one alternate. The 81st session was held at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO June 24-July 1, 2023.
Girls State is a youth seminar on Americanism and government that is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. This week long, non-partisan program is designed to teach duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship.
Participants generally are organized into functioning cities of a mythical state and assume the role of government officials at all levels. They will also draft and debate bills in a mock legislature.
Delegates representing Unit 133 from Perryville High School were Daisy Ernst, Haylie Hagan, and Johanna Hoffer. Delegates from St. Vincent High School were Maria Wibbenmeyer and Lydia Clements. The chosen alternate was Destiny Mudge.
Lydia Clements, daughter of Eric and Christine Clements was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 133. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Cross Country and Track Teams, Skills USA Member, Students for Life, and Sodality. Lydia has been A honor roll and student of the week.

Daisy Ernst, whose guardian is Matthew Finley is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Art Club, Academic Team, and Girl Scouts. She has is a section leader in the marching band, and is on the school’s bowling team. She is sponsored by the Bank of Missouri.
Johannah Hoffer is the daughter of Carissa Anschultz and is sponsored by the American Legion Booster Club. Johannah is actively involved in Speech and Debate, Soccer, Marching Band and Jazz Band. She is an officer for Spanish Club and a community volunteer.
Marie Wibbenmeyer is the daughter of Rick and Louise Wibbenmeyer . Her activities include Spanish Club, SADD Club, National Honor Society, Sodality and Band. She is on the Cross Country and Golf teams. She was chosen to attend the Missouri Leadership Seminar and is an active community volunteer. She is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 133.
Haylie Hagan is the daughter of Kyle and Kristi Hagan is sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. Haylie has been a member of the Spanish Club, Pirate Pride Crew, Soccer and Volleyball teams, FBLA, and active in Band. She has won gold awards at both the district and state levels in band.
Destiny Mudge, the daughter of Lyle and Heather Mudge was chosen as an alternate. She is active in FFA, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Marching and Concert Band, the high school bowling team. Destiny attended Missouri Leadership Seminar and has received numerous academic awards.
