The deadline has been extended for Perryville High School students in the 11th grade (juniors) to apply for the new Student Representative position on the Board of Education at Perry County School District 32. At the end of the first deadline, the Central Office had not received a complete application.
“While reviewing the applications for the position of Student Representative on the Board of Education, we realized that we did not receive any complete applications,” said Communications Director Kate Martin, who will serve as the mentor for the Student Representative. “The most common missing component was the letters of recommendation. We realize that in our excitement to begin this new program, we likely set too tight of a timeline, which prevented interested students from successfully completing and submitting their applications.”
The application period has been extended to Nov. 7, 2023. Applications can be found at bit.ly/3R71vxF, along with eligibility requirements and procedures. Applications are also available in the high school lobby. The application requires the submission of a 400-500 word essay on the importance of including student voices in matters concerning our schools, a 30-to-60-second video telling their fellow students why they wish to serve in this position, along with 2 letters of reference, one of which must be from a PHS teacher or staff member.
