The Perryville board of Aldermen made quick work of the agenda at its latest meeting on Oct. 18.
The board breezed through the consent agenda without any questions, which included payments for the Wastewater Treatment Plant facility, and the work being done on the new Perryville Technical Education Campus. This is the first of the invoices that will be paid by the City but reimbursed in full by Ranken.
The board also approved a payment for the second phase of the sewer trunk line which delivers sewage to the treatment plant from the city limits.
Also in the consent agenda was the approval of a mural at 27 West St. Joseph Street. This particular location, on the white walls of the Johnson and Niswonger building, will be patriotic themed and include historic views of the courthouse and past uses of this particular building. The project will be done in spray paint.
City Administrator Brent Buerck missed acknowledging it during the consent agenda portion of the meeting, but recognized a request from Denise Waller of New Life Mission Inn to continue the Community Thanksgiving Dinner this year at the Senior Center in Perryville.
Susan Foster could no longer help with the event this year.

“It is a great event every year and helps out those in the community that have nowhere to go during the holidays,” Buerck said. “I know that some of the Aldermen have helped with the event in the past and have enjoyed doing so.”
After the consent agenda, the board approved an agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in regards to the Transportation Alternatives Funds Program. The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application to extend the Greenway Trail along Perryville Boulevard was approved by MoDOT and will extend the trail from Old St. Mary’s Road to Perryville Boulevard.
During his Administrator’s report, Buerck discussed the importance of continuing to have the soccer tournaments in town, along with softball and baseball.
“It brings revenue to our community,” he said. “Some of the businesses say those days are their best all year.”
He also discussed the Perry County Courthouse Lawn Plan survey and the importance of public input as well as the Marine Band Performance at the Perry Park Center on Oct. 16.
The next meeting will be Nov. 1
