Athletes perform well at Perryville meet

The Perryville and St. Vincent track and field teams showed up and showed out at one of the few home meets on the schedule. There were several first place finishes, as well as other good performances from the local athletes at the 28th annual Perryville Invitational on April 4.
Perryville junior Ellie Gerler won both the discus (106-02.00) and shot put event (33-06.75). Fellow junior Blair Hopkins won the two-mile event with a time of 10:33.64 and the Pirates won the boys’ 4x800-meter relay (8:55.62).
St. Vincent saw both a male and female runner win an event in the meet. Clayton Gremaud won the 400m race with a time of 52.96 after placing second in the 200m. Reagan Meyer also won the 400m with a time of 1:01.74.
Those weren’t the only good performances on the day as Carter Hennemann finished second in the 1,600 meter run (4:57.11) and third in the 800 meter run (2:13.57). Jacob Schremp finished third in the discus (38.9 meters) and third in the javelin (43.26 meters) James Unterreiner finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (25.73) and Ethan Hotop finished fifth in the 3,200 meter run (11:32.58)
The relay teams did well as the 4x400 team finished fourth (3:53.18) and the 4x800 team finished fifth (9:13.42.)

On the girls side Bridgid Sauer finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (19.39 seconds), while Sophia Taylor finished sixth in the triple jump (9.4 meters). Claire Otte also finished sixth in the javelin (27.01 meters) and eighth in the shot put (8.93 meters.)
For the Pirates, Katie Farrow finished second in the pole vault (2.44 meters), while Annabelle Del Rosario finished eighth in the event. The girls 4x800 meter relay team finished eighth in the event (12:29.24). The 4x100 relay team also finished eighth (56.86 seconds)
On the boys side, Mason Zoellner finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (46.54 seconds) and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles.
Aden Garris finished third in the 100-meter dash (12.30) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (24.69). Clayton Bauwens finished third in the 3,200 meter run (11:09.08)
Kayd Luckey finished fourth in the 800 meter run (2:14.29
