PERRYVILLE — St. Vincent turned in one of its strongest all-around performances of the season at the Perryville Varsity Track and Field Invitational on April 7, highlighted by a collection of medal-winning efforts against a competitive field that also saw Perryville produce several top finishes on its home track.
The Indians’ biggest highlight came in the 3,200-meter relay, where Audrey Amschler, Anna Welker, Adeline Carlton and Reagan Meyer captured 1st place in 10 minutes, 37.81 seconds, a performance that now ranks among the top 40 in Missouri.
On the boys' side, Jackson Seabaugh led St. Vincent with a 2nd-place finish in the 100 meters (11.18), while Kale Meyer placed 7th (11.92).
Bo Burgin took 7th in the 200 (25.07), and Carter Hennemann delivered a standout performance with a 2nd-place finish in the 400 (52.58) and another 2nd-place effort in the 800 (2:04.76). Carter Herman added a 7th-place finish in the 800 (2:14.40).
In distance events, Caden Hadler (8th, 5:36.15) and Collin Tilley (11th, 6:00.65) competed in the 1,600, while Luke Ryan (6th, 12:02.57) and Jackson Strattman (10th, 12:29.68) ran in the 3,200.
The Indians’ 400-meter relay team of Layton Cheaney, Burgin, Hunter Mattingly and Seabaugh placed 4th in 46.75.
The 800-meter relay team of Meyer, Hennemann, Burgin and Seabaugh placed 2nd (1:38.25), while the 1,600-meter relay team finished 6th (3:50.22).
In the field, Mason Naeger placed 2nd in the high jump (6-0), while Kellan Pitts was 6th (5-4). Pitts added a 5th-place finish in both the long jump (5.77 meters) and triple jump (11.39).
On the girls' side, Emma Moore placed 6th in the 100 (14.24), while Kaitlin Lobbig (29.41) and Payton Unterreiner (31.46) ran in the 200.
Brynn Renner won the 400 (1:03.99), while Lobbig placed 5th (1:07.11). In distance races, Amschler (3rd, 2:47.71) and Carlton (4th, 2:55.30) ran in the 800, while Welker placed 3rd in the 1,600 (6:02.77) and won the 3,200 (13:44.18).
St. Vincent’s relay teams added a 4th-place finish in the 400 (56.78), a 3rd-place finish in the 800 (1:57.51), and a 2nd-place finish in the 1,600 (4:22.54).
Meanwhile, host Perryville turned in several strong performances, particularly in the field events and relays.
On the boys' side, Lucas Buchheit led the Pirates in the 100 with a 6th-place finish (11.77), while Jacob Goehman (10th, 25.28) and Grant Blythe (13th, 25.56) competed in the 200.
In the 800, Preston Cooper placed 9th (2:17.46) and Tristen Dobbelare was 13th (2:29.95). Perryville’s 3,200-meter relay team of Cooper, Dobbelare, Ethan Pohlman and Micah Brown delivered a 2nd-place finish (9:15.29).
The Pirates’ 800-meter relay team placed 4th (1:41.47), while the 400-meter relay team took 6th (47.63) and the 1,600-meter relay team placed 7th (3:55.64).
Perryville excelled in the field events, with Xzyavier Wilson winning the long jump (6.18 meters) and placing 2nd in the triple jump (12.26). Andres Mendez-Mattingly added a 3rd-place finish in the long jump (5.93).
Dezmen Hampson cleared 6-2 to win the high jump, while Destyn Morgan placed 3rd in the shot put (13.26) and 3rd in the discus (42.25). Ben Huber added a 2nd-place finish in the discus (45.39).
On the girls' side, Sophia Coppaway led Perryville with a 3rd-place finish in the 100 (13.67) and a 4th-place finish in the 200 (28.60), while Brooklyn Zahner placed 10th in both events.
In the 400, Hope Endicott (1:16.04) and Alexa Hagan (1:18.20) competed, while Lucy Blythe placed 4th in the 3,200 (14:59.69).
The Pirates’ 400-meter relay team placed 5th (57.00), while Annabelle Del Rosario finished 2nd in the pole vault (8-0) and Endicott added a 5th-place finish (7-0).
