St. Vincent High School finished the 2025-2026 school year with another impressive run in MSHAA athletics.

The school won district titles in eight sports; girls volleyball, boys golf, girls basketball, girls soccer, boys basketball, girls cross country, girls track and boys track. Both track teams also won sectional championships. The school took conference championships in girls soccer, girls volley, both boys and girls basketball, and football.

Four St. Vincent teams finished top three in the state, including a state championship in Volleyball. The Lady Indians track and cross country teams both finished fourth in the state

Girls soccer finished third in the state after a 21-3 season that included a tournament win in March, and a tournament runner-up finish in May. The Lady Indians impressed offensively, outsourcing opponents 134-26. The Lady Indians were led by the dominating striking of senior Lana Adams, who scored 70 goals on the season, bringing her high school goal total to 166. They were led defensively by freshman goalkeeper Chloe House, who finished the year with a .905 save percentage.

The boys golf team came close to winning a state championship, finishing second at the championship in May with a two-day total of 650, just 8 strokes behind first place Palmyra. Samuel Koisher had the Indians best individual performance in the state tournament, finishing 18th overall with a combined two-day score of 156 (+12).

“Our golfers put together an exceptional season, finishing as runners-up and showcasing tremendous talent and perseverance,” head coach Eric Clements said. “Their second place finish reflects the commitment and teamwork they displayed all year long. One of the biggest reasons for their success was the way they continually challenged and encouraged one another, pushing each teammate to improve and perform at their highest level.”

The girls volleyball team finished its most successful season ever, finishing with a record of 28-6-2, winning a fifth consecutive district championship and a first ever state championship. The Lady Indians finished the volleyball season on a streak of 13 consecutive wins, culminating in the three set sweep of Hermann in the state championship. Of their 28 wins, only 8 made it to a fourth set, with only 3 requiring a fifth set. Kate Rubel had over 400 kills on the season to pass 1,000 in her high school career. Head coach Leeah Radil said in November that she believes the team will move up to class 3 as a result of winning the state championship, which will create a new level of competition for the Lady Indians this fall.

“That whole team, they all stepped up,” Radil said after the state championship in November. “It was really them working as a team. They all worked together. It was awesome.”

The girls basketball team went 24-8 on the season, advancing to the state championship game in Columbia, where they fought hard but ultimately lost to Principia, the same team they opened the season with a loss against. The season also included now retired coach Mel Kirn’s 100th win at the helm of the Lady Indians basketball team. It was the first time in program history both the boys and girls’ basketball teams won Jefferson County Athletic Association conference championships and district titles in the same year.

“It’s a great situation to have,” St. Vincent boys coach Bruce Valleroy said in March. “To be able to say both teams won conference and both teams won districts — that’s pretty special.”

With 3 top 3 finishes in state competition, and several more conference, district, and sectional championships, St. Vincent’s athletics has a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
