JACKSON — Saxony Lutheran played host to seven other teams on April 29 for the 2025 Saxony Larry Cleair Last Chance Open and recorded 15 first-place finishes in the meet.
On the girls’ side, Myra Roth was first in the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 59.8 seconds, Adalyn Brandhorst was first in the 3,200 in 14:45.6, Abigail Haley won the 100 hurdles in 16.66, Carsten Millstead was first in the long jump at 4.62 meters, Sarah Seabaugh was first in the pole vault at 2.6 meters, and Rebecca Yunck was won the javelin with a distance of 33.02.
The Lady Crusaders also claimed victories in the 800 Relay (1:54.9), the 1,600 relay (4:48.4) and the 3,200 relay (11:18.0).
For the boys, Saxony’s Nicolas Chambless was first in the 800 at 2:39.4, Mark Richey was first in the 3,200 at 12:29.0, Nashaun Davis was first in the 110 hurdles in 15.6, Clark Jones won the long jump at 6.11 meters and the javelin at 41.91, and Jacob Schupp was first in the pole vault, clearing 2.45.
Turning in second-place finishes for the Lady Crusaders were Brandhorst in the 800 (2:59.0), Haley in the 300 hurdles (50.94), and Yunck in the long jump (4.57). Saxony entered three teams in the girls’ 400 relay, and finished second (53.29), fourth (56.32), and seventh (1:02.3).
Gretchen Wolfe was third in the 800 (3:02.0) and Olivia Petzoldt was seventh (3:17.8);
Shyanne Weibrecht was third in the high jump (1.37) while Amelia Hicks was sixth (1.23); Sadie Elmore was third in the long jump (4.2) and Ashley Perkins was fifth (3.8); Millstead was fourth in the 100 (14.09), Kenzie Keys was fifth (14:50), Weibrecht was seventh (14.82) and Abigail Ingvalson was eighth (33:36.0); Myra Roth was fifth in the 200 (26:24.0), Timora Criddle was sixth (29.19), Keys was eighth (16:48), and Weibrecht was ninth (36:00); and Eva Williamson was fourth in the 400 (1:11.5) and Amelia Hicks was sixth (1:23.8).
In other events, Sadie Elmore was seventh in the 100 hurdles (19.36); Sadie Elmore was sixth in the 300 hurdles (1:00.9); Ashley Perkins was fourth in the discus (21.33), and Lilly Roth was 10th (18.15); Bridget Wilson was fourth in the javelin (25.96), Casey Call was sixth (23.88), and Raylee Matthews was ninth (20.83), and Call was seventh in the shot put (7.38), followed by Lilly Roth in ninth (6.96).
For the boys' team, Matthew Hitt was second in the 3,200 (12:30.6) and Jonas Hohenadel was second in the 300 hurdles (49.23). The Crusaders also had second-place finishes in the 1,600 relay (3:51.0) and the 3,200 relay (9:48.0).
Jacob Schupp was third in the 3,200 at 12:50, followed by Evan Ward in fourth at 13:00.5; Nicolas Chambless was third in the 1,600 (5:23.7), followed by teammate Mark Richey in fourth (5:23.9), while Matthew Hitt and Sebastian Uhorskai tied for sixth at 5:45.6; Clark Jones was fifth in the 100 (12.07); Kael Walker was fifth in the 200 (26.31), and Matt Chambless was fifth in the 400 (1:00.8). The Crusaders’ 400 relay finished third in 46.75.
In other events, Maksim Mayhew was fourth in the long jump (5.7); Seth Mueller was fourth in the triple jump (10.95); Jake Biri was fourth in the discus (28.77), seventh in the javelin (29.87) ahead of Chambless in 10th (27.1); and seventh in the shot put ((9.49), ahead of Micah Dehne in eighth (9.3).
