KELLY 3, SAXONY LUTHERAN 0 JACKSON — Despite 21 outs from Saxony Lutheran starter Natalie Brown, the Lady Crusaders (8-5) found themselves on the wrong end of a shutout Thursday against visiting Kelly. Brown took the loss after giving up 3 runs — 2 earned — on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in 7 innings. Two of those hits — and 1 walk — came in the first inning, as Kelly opened the scoring on a pair of RBI singles. The Lady Hawks added another run at the top of the seventh on a Saxony error. Kelly’s Brailey Ratledge earned the win for Kelly after holding Saxony scoreless on 3 hits, striking out 8 and walking 1. Brown, Ansley Palisch, and Ohna Boland each had one hit for Saxony.
FREDERICKTOWN 5, SAXONY LUTHERAN 4 JACKSON — Saxony Lutheran built a 4-2 lead by the end of the fifth inning in last Tuesday’s game against visiting Fredericktown, but the Lady Blackcats weren’t ready to give up, scoring 3 runs in the top of the seventh, holding off the Lady Crusaders for the victory. Fredericktown opened the scoring in the first on a steal, then Jenna Unterreiner’s RBI double allowed Saxony Lutheran to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third. The Lady Crusaders took the lead in the fourth on Madilynn Hager’s RBI single, before an error in the top of the fifth allowed Fredericktown to tie the score once more. In the bottom of the inning, Palisch hit a two-run triple to give the Lady Crusaders a 4-2 lead. Madilynn Hager took the loss for Saxony Lutheran, giving up 5 runs — 1 earned — on 10 hits, with 6 strikeouts and no walks in 7 innings. Palisch was 1-for-3 at the plate for Saxony, finishing with 2 RBI. Unterreiner and Hager each had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Bridget Wilson was 2-for-3 with 1 run scored.
