Music fest rocks downtown Perryville By Kevin Jenkins editor@perryvillenews.com Rocktoberfest returned Saturday evening to downtown Perryville — and it didn’t disappoint the large crowd that gathered for a night of free live music and hometown fun.

The annual event, which showcases the talents of young musicians and provides a stage for regional bands, was once again hosted by Stan Denninger, owner of EXP Productions and The Guitar Shop in Perryville. Denninger, who launched Rocktoberfest more than a decade ago as a way to promote downtown and celebrate local music, could barely contain his excitement as he reflected on this year’s turnout.

“It was a great day!” Denninger said. “We had sunny weather and a good crowd. All the kids got up there and poured their hearts out on that stage, and the audience cheered every minute of it. It was a beautiful thing. The kids’ concert was followed by some great bands that played on into the night. Hope to see you all next year.”

The evening featured performances by Denninger’s students from The Guitar Shop, followed by several regional acts that kept the crowd rocking until late. Also, the Heroes for Kids organization announced that they raised more than $600 for charity during the event.

This year’s Rocktoberfest sponsors included: Platinum Tier – TG Missouri Corporation, Preston’s Landscaping & Tree Service Gold Tier – Primrose Preschool, Richardet Floor Covering, Main Street Signs, Earthworks, Chad’s Septic & Backhoe Service, A1 Glass, Buchheit, EXP Productions, The Bank of Missouri, First State Community Bank, Krauss Detailing Silver Tier – Mary Jane Burgers & Brew, HSB Advisors, Real Rock 99.3, The Guitar Shop.
