Perryville’s 41st annual Mayfest kicks off Friday, and the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce is completing the final stages of preparation for the annual festival.
As a part of that final push, Alex Leuders, the chamber’s director of operations, delivered letters to businesses on the downtown square Monday outlining the plan for street closures on the square.
“The Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce and the 2026 Perryville Mayfest Committee want to thank you for your consideration and support of Chamber events,” wrote Leuders. “The 41st Annual Mayfest event is drawing closer. We appreciate your patience and cooperation for the preparation and operation of the Perryville Mayfest.”
In the letter, Leuders outlined the chamber’s plan for the two-day event and the ensuing street closures that will affect downtown parking beginning Friday.
“We want to thank you in advance for your cooperation,” Leuders wrote.
The Chamber posted its “No Parking” reminders around the square Monday afternoon.
Beginning at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 7, there will be no parking on Jackson Street and Ste. Marie Street around the square until the morning of Sunday, May 10. These streets will also be closed to traffic during that time.
On Friday, May 8, St. Joseph Street from the square to South West Street will be closed from 4 p.m. through Sunday, May 10. Ste. Marie Street between Main and Jackson will close to traffic at noon and will reopen Sunday, May 10, as will Jackson St. from St. Joseph to the American Legion.
On Saturday, May 9, there will be no parking on Main Street from the corner of Ste. Marie to South Street and St. Joseph St. from the Perryville Community Center to the corner of West Street and Jackson Street to South Street.
“Thank you again for your continued support of the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce and our biggest event, Mayfest,” Leuders wrote.
