Perryville (3-0) rolled over North County (0-3) on Wednesday, topping the visiting Raiders 8-0 at The Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex in Perryville.

Junior Dez Hampson finished with a hat trick, scoring three goals for the Pirates, while senior Treyton Barnett added two of his own. Waylon Huber — the Pirates’ starting keeper — Ethan Pohlman and Oliver Tucker had one goal apiece. All but one came in the first period.

Perryville Coach Jerry Fulton said his plan for the game was to make sure some of his younger players got some playing time, while he rested some of his usual starters in preparation for upcoming, more challenging games.

“We tried to start as few people as we needed,” Fulton said, pointing to upcoming games at the Southern Boone Shootout on Friday. “We’re trying to get some people some rest. I even started my backup keeper on varsity today because he doesn’t get to play very often. I let Waylon go out on the field, and he scored the third goal.”

Fulton added that he knew North County was facing some challenges and took full advantage of the opportunity.

“They have a new coach and it’s a rebuilding year, so things are tough over there,” Fulton said. "They are a district opponent. They are in our district, so we don’t take that very lightly. We wanted to put a good game in. I think we probably could have finished it in the first half, but we had a lot of people play in a lot of different positions, so we were just trying to have some fun.”

In addition to his two goals, Barnett also finished with two assists. Kade Baundistel, Huber, Pohlman, Karston Schilli, Lucas Wright, and Lane Yamnitz all had one assist. Jace Oster earned the shutout victory in goal for Perryville, finishing with one save.

“The boys played well this week,” Fulton said. “In the last two games, they’ve scored 16 goals and played 105 minutes.”

One day before Perryville took down North County, they beat Windsor (1-4) on the road, also finishing with an 8-0 shutout. In that game, Barnett and Hampson each scored two goals, while Bryan Bohnert, Vincent Schaaf, Schilli, and Oliver Tucker had one goal apiece.

Barnett and Baundistel had three assists apiece, while Schilli had two. Huber earned the shutout victory in goal for the Pirates, recording no saves in the game. Windsor keeper Caleb Haegele took the loss after giving up all eight Perryville goals. He recorded 12 saves in the game.
