Perry County School District No. 32 Assistant Superintendent Jeanie White issued the following message Friday, Dec. 10, shortly after 9 a.m.

"All students and staff are safe at District 32. Local law enforcement agencies have responded to Perry County Middle School and the District 32 campus to investigate a rumor of a potential threat after a female caller reported the rumor. At this time, police investigators have determined that this this not a credible threat. There will be a heightened police presence on campus the remainder of the day, and District administrators have implemented additional security measures in the buildings while normal instruction continues. We are very grateful for the person who reported the rumor so it could be investigated, and encourage all students and community members to do the same if they hear or see something concerning. We didn’t plan to start our Friday this way, but I am confident in our local authorities and staff to keep our students safe while they are in our care. I’m sorry we can’t report more details, and I speak for Superintendent Comstock and myself when I say that we appreciate your trust in all of us District 32.
