Major Bill Whitson, United States Marine Corps, died peacefully at his residence in Richmond, Virginia, on August 20, 2024.

Bill was born in Perryville on June 9, 1951, to Ira and Edna Whitson who preceded him in death.

He was also predeceased by one brother, Elmer Whitson, and two sisters, Sandra Ennis and Dale Whitson.

He is survived by four sisters: Jonnie Earle of Richmond, Virginia, Pat Rauhala (Dwight) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kathy Whitson of Washington, Illinois, and Gail Kimmich of Perryville.

Other survivors include nieces Kelly Jones (Eddie), Tracy Michko, Vivian Wheeler, and Catie Rauhala; and nephews George Earle (Amy), Matt Earle, Mark Rauhala, Boone Wheeler, Karl Wheeler, and Kurt Wheeler (Gabby). Bill is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

Bill was a member of the Kilmarnock United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia.

While at Perryville High School, he served as the state vice-president of the Future Farmers of America. Bill also served as the state president of 4-H. He held both organizations in high regard throughout his life.

The immediate family will hold a private memorial service at a future date.
