Arthur J. “Art” Tayon, 92, of Perryville passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Perry County.
He was born June 13, 1932, in East St. Louis to Arthur J. and Ruth A. (Wood) Tayon.
He and Euline M. Boxdorfer were married on March 5, 1953 in Pagedale. She proceeds him in death on November 19, 2007.
Art served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Art was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. He retired as a Printer after 35 years with Orchard Decorative Printing. Art was also a former Senior Games Developer and participant. He and his wife started the Senior Games in Perryville.
Survivors include three children, Kathleen A. Adams of Florissant; Craig A. (Dawn) Tayon of Frohna; Lisa E. (Ron) Manetz of Perryville; sister-in-law, Emogene Tayon of Cahokia; son-in-law, Donald Steiger of St. Ann; five grandchildren, Donald (Beth) Steiger, Angela Steiger, Justin Tayon, Ryan (Savannah) Manetz, Leyna Tayon; four great grandchildren, DJ Steiger, Parker Manetz, Cooper Manetz and Taber Steiger.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Melford D., Ronald W. and Armand Tayon; three sisters, Dolores Bland, Patricia R. Dover, and Marguerite Sorgea.
Visitation was held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and continued Friday, September 13, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, September 13, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville with Rev. Joseph Schlie officiating.
Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville. Military Honors were provided by Delta Team and American Legion Post # 133. Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Radio Broadcast Fund.
