Perryville High School senior Drew Leuckel (center) recently signed a national letter of intent to play football for Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., during a ceremony at the school in Perryville. While at PHS, Leuckel was involved in football, the National Honor Society, and the weightlifting team. In his senior season with the Pirates, Leuckel rushed for 180 yards and caught 24 passes for 420 yards and 5 touchdowns. On defense, he finished the season with 99 total tackles, including 33 solo stops, and 3 sacks from the middle linebacker position. While continuing his football career at Western Illinois, Leuckel plans to study Engineering Technology. Joining him at the signing ceremony were his parents, Brad Leuckel (left) and Kelly Staggs.
