Leslie “Sonny” Lowes, Jr., 77, of Perryville passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
He was born Oct. 2, 1945, in Old Appleton, MO, to Leslie Therman and Jacklena “Jackie” L. (Feltz) Lowes.
Sonny and Mary Belle Davis were married March 26, 1966 in Perryville. She survives him in Perryville.
Sonny proudly served in the Unites States Marine Corp from 1965-1967 and was a Vietnam veteran where he was Tank Commander in the 3rd Armored Division.
Sonny was the owner of Sunshine Hay Farms, farming hay, grain and livestock. Sonny worked at Davis Farm Supplies before becoming a full time farmer. He always gave more than expected to landlords. He always lived life in a positive manner.
Survivors include four sons, Leslie (Amy) Lowes III, Curtis (Tammie) Lowes, Charles Lowes, Stephen (Stephanie) Lowes all of Perryville, MO; sister, Dolly Lowes; brother, Glen (LeAnn) Lowes both of Perryville, MO; seven grandchildren, MaKayla Lowes (fiance Joshua Parden), Anna (RJ) Long, Leslie “Eli” Lowes IV, Rosa Lowes, Steph (Drew) Richardet, Chelsi (Montana) Giesler, Brooke Lowes (Sean Merk), and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating.
Graveside Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #133 and the U.S Marine Corp Honors Team.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or for family use.
