Laid Back on I-55 Truck Show rolls into Perryville this weekend

Posted

The Laid Back on I-55 Truck Show will rumble into downtown Perryville this Friday and Saturday for its eighth year, bringing big rigs, live music and a cause close to the community’s heart.

The annual event raises awareness and funds for Step Up for Down Syndrome. According to the Laid Back on I-55 Committee, last year’s show brought in more than $27,000 for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.

As it has for the past six years, the event will take place on the Downtown Square and nearby side streets, making use of the city’s Downtown Main Stage.

With city approval, the committee announced that the following streets will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. Friday: Jackson Street, from the Clarkson Eyecare fourway to the American Legion; West St. Joseph Street, from South Church Street to Main Street; from the Knights of Columbus parking lot to the city parking lot; and West St. Maries Street, from North Jackson Street to Main Street. Main Street will remain open.

All vehicles must be removed from these streets by 1 p.m. Friday, or they will be towed at the owner’s expense. Streets will reopen at 7 a.m. Sunday.
