SIKESTON — The Saxony Lutheran girls track and field team turned in a third-place finish at the Sikeston Twilight Invitational on April 22. The boys team finished 10th.
Finishing ahead of the Saxony girls were New Madrid County Central in first with 92.5 points and the host Lady Bulldogs in second at 91. Saxony turned in a total of 67 points.
On the boys’ side, Sikeston claimed the No. 1 spot with 103 points. The Crusaders finished with 17.
Junior vaulter Casey Call, ranked No. 2 in Class 2 and tied for 12th overall, cleared 3.2 meters to claim first place. Teammate Sarah Seabaugh, a sophomore, was second at 2.44 meters. Senior Myra Roth also turned in first-place time in the 800 meters, finishing in 2 minutes, 42.88 seconds. She was also second in the 1,600, finishing in 5:53.75.
Senior Rebecca Yunck set a new personal best in the javelin, finishing second at 33.37 meters, ahead of Alivia Miget, who was sixth at 23.48. Yunck was fifth in the long jump at 4.68 meters, just ahead of Raylee Matthews, who was sixth at 4.61.
In other events, Shyanne Weibrecht was fifth in the high jump at 1.27 meters, and Timora Criddle was sixth in the 200 at 28.94 seconds and ninth in the 100 in 13.99.
Saxony Lutheran’s 1,600 relay, made up of Weibrecht, Roth, Eva Williamson and Matthews, was fifth in 4:46.76; the 400 relay, featuring Criddle, Matthews, Kennedy Lewis and Yunck, was seventh in 54.80; and the 800 relay, comprised of Lewis, Weibrecht, Yunck and Matthews, was ninth in 2:08.14.
On the boys’ side, Maksim Mayhew was fifth in the 400, finishing in 53.80 seconds; Mark Richey was fifth in the 3,200 at 12:27.01; Nashaun Davis was seventh in the 200 at 23.73; Clark Jones was ninth in the javelin at 36.95 meters; and Jonas Hohenadel was 10th in the 300 hurdles in 49.24.
The Crusaders’ 400 relay team of Weston Jeter, Mayhew, Jones and Davis, finished fourth with a time of 45.54; while the 3,200 relay of Matthew Hitt, Jacob Schupp, Hohenadel, and Mark Richey, was seventh in 10:22.08.
