James Edward Cissell, 88, of Brewer, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

He was born April 19, 1936 in Perry County to Thomas and Idelle (Moore) Cissell.

He and Peggy Franklin were married April 16, 1955 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake.

James was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer. James was a self-employed Carpenter and Cabinet Builder. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Mizzou Tigers.

Survivors include his wife; Seven Children, Deborah (Steven) Schamburg of Perryville, Cheryl Davis of Perryville, Marilyn (Jim) Tucker of Brewer, Tammy (Mike) Alexander of Jackson, Bobby (Denise) Cissell of Brewer, Randy (Julie) Cissell of Brewer, Daniel Cissell of Brewer, 12 Grandchildren, Lauren (Justin) Laenen of Niceville, FL, Chad (Kris) Weber of St. Louis, Matthew (Angie) Tucker of Brewer, Tyler (Fiance Ashley L’Hote) Glueck of Perryville, Chelsea (Craig) Niemoeller of St. Louis, Ashley (Corey) Andrade of Longwood, FL, Caleb (Sam Wisniewski) Davis of Ste. Genevieve, Austin (Kylie) Alexander of Jackson, Caitlin Schamburg of St. Louis, Taylor (Fiance Kyle Fahnestock) Cissell of Perryville, Zachary Cissell of Kansas City, Jake Cissell of Brewer, 14 Great-grandchildren, Averie, Aubrie, Reese, Ella, Aylin, Audrey, Ivy, Arlo, Aura Leigh, Tate, Addie, Ryker, Kaden, Connor.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Son, Terry James Cissell; Infant Daughter; Two Brothers, Donald Cissell, Perry Cissell; Two Sisters, Betty Renaud, Sally McAtee.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, and from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, with Rev. Jay Jung C.M. officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
