ADVANCE — Saxony Lutheran couldn’t generate enough offense and fell to Advance 10-0 on April 30.
Advance took control early, scoring 7 runs in the 1st inning and never looking back, adding runs in the 2nd and 3rd to end the game early.
Saxony Lutheran was limited to just 2 hits in the contest. Kai McDowell went 1-for-2, as did James Hope. The Crusaders struck out 7 times and were unable to produce a run.
James Hope took the loss, allowing 7 runs on 4 hits in 0.2 innings. Cole Roth provided relief, going 2.1 innings and allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits while striking out 3. Tyler Lawrence added a scoreless inning of relief.
Advance finished with 10 runs on 6 hits, taking advantage of walks and timely hitting. Caleb Henson led the way with 2 hits, a run and an RBI, while Cole Curtis drove in 3 runs. Jameson Hamlin also had 3 RBI, and Cole Curtis and Hamlin each homered.
Kadon Rodgers earned the win, allowing just 2 hits over 5 innings while striking out 7.
Saxony Lutheran 5, St. Pius X 4
JACKSON — Saxony Lutheran used timely hitting and a solid pitching effort to edge St. Pius X 5-4 on April 29.
The Crusaders broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the 6th inning and held on the rest of the way.
Saxony Lutheran totaled 5 runs on 6 hits. Kai McDowell went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Eli Raddemann added a hit and drove in a run. Zach Roth and Tyler Lawrence each contributed a hit, and Layton Hoehne also had a hit and scored.
James Hope scored a run and reached base, while Walker Short added a hit and an RBI.
Zach Roth started on the mound, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits over 5 innings while striking out 4. Layton Hoehne and A.J. Sawyers combined in relief, with Sawyers earning the win after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings.
St. Pius X finished with 4 runs on 6 hits. Ben Smith had 2 hits and drove in a run, while Carter Payne added a hit and an RBI. Cooper Horvath and Ray Geller also contributed offensively.
Despite being outhit evenly, Saxony Lutheran capitalized on key opportunities late to secure the win.
