FESTUS — The Jefferson BlueJay Invitational on March 31 produced a full slate of standout performances from St. Vincent and Perryville, including multiple event wins, relay victories and several top-3 finishes.
St. Vincent’s Carter Hennemann delivered one of the top performances of the day, winning the boys' 800 meters in 2 minutes, 5.87 seconds and adding a runner-up finish in the 1,600 meters (5:06.39). He also anchored the Indians’ winning 3,200-meter relay team (9:13.89), teaming with Luke Ryan, Carter Herman and Caden Hadler.
Herman added a 5th-place finish in the 800 (2:18.73), while Ryan placed 4th in the 3,200 (12:12.93). Collin Tilley took 8th in the same race (13:36.13). Jackson Strattman contributed a 10th-place finish in the 1,600 (5:57.36).
In sprint events, Jackson Seabaugh led St. Vincent with a pair of runner-up finishes, taking 2nd in the 100 (11.08) and 200 (22.81). Kale Meyer placed 5th in the 200 (23.84) and 7th in the 100 (11.76).
The Indians’ 400 group saw Hunter Mattingly (7th, 57.08) and Bo Burgin (8th, 57.18) both finish in the top 10.
In relays, St. Vincent placed 3rd in the 400-meter relay (46.00) and 5th in the 1,600-meter relay (3:50.16).
Field events added depth for the Indians. Kellan Pitts and Mason Naeger tied for 5th in the high jump (1.75m). Pitts also placed 11th in the long jump (5.23m) and 7th in the triple jump (11.52m), while Naeger added 12th in the triple jump (10.56m).
Noah Pecaut led St. Vincent throwers with a 13th-place finish in the shot put (11.40m), while Daniel Sauer took 17th (10.73m) and added 18th in the discus (26.35m).
Perryville turned in strong performances in the field events, highlighted by Dezmen Hampson winning the long jump (6.50m) and Xzyavier Wilson finishing 2nd (6.26m). Wilson also captured the triple jump title (12.68m), while Jacob Goehman placed 14th (10.20m).
On the track, Wilson added an 8th-place finish in the 100 (11.77), while Lucas Buchheit placed 12th (12.01). Goehman took 16th in the 200 (25.78).
Preston Cooper led Perryville in the 400 with a 5th-place finish (54.93), and Ethan Pohlman placed 10th in the 800 (2:28.51).
The Pirates’ 400-meter relay team finished 5th (47.17), and the 1,600-meter relay placed 8th (4:12.00).
In throws, Destyn Morgan placed 10th in the shot put (11.96m) and 6th in the discus (41.94m), while Ben Huber finished 11th in the discus (33.05m).
On the girls' side, St. Vincent dominated the relays. The Lady Indians won the 1,600-meter relay (4:27.50) and the 3,200-meter relay (10:46.76), while also placing 4th in the 800-meter relay (1:57.57) and 6th in the 400-meter relay (56.51).
Audrey Amschler led St. Vincent individually with a 5th-place finish in the 800 (2:49.42), while Anna Welker placed 4th in the 1,600 (6:12.43) and 3rd in the 3,200 (13:41.61). Adeline Carlton added 8th in the 800 (3:06.61) and 8th in the 1,600 (7:38.39).
Brynn Renner placed 8th in the 200 (29.57), and Kaitlin Lobbig added 7th in the 400 (1:07.54) and 11th in the 100 (14.58).
In field events, Sydney Taylor finished 10th in the long jump (4.12m) and 8th in the triple jump (8.31m).
Perryville’s girls were led by Sophia Coppaway, who placed 6th in the 100 (14.17), 9th in the 200 (29.74) and 8th in the long jump (4.20m).
Hope Endicott (10th, 400; 1:14.69) and Alexa Hagan (14th, 1:19.24) paced the Pirates in the 400.
In relays, Perryville placed 5th in the 400-meter relay (56.49) and 5th in the 3,200-meter relay (12:21.38).
Annabelle Del Rosario led the Pirates in field events with a 4th-place finish in the pole vault (2.29m), while Hope Endicott added 5th (1.83m).
Between distance dominance, relay wins, and strong field event showings, both St. Vincent and Perryville turned in productive performances against a deep field.
