CAPE GIRARDEAU — The St. Vincent boys and girls track and field teams both captured team championships at the 2026 MSHSAA Class 1 District 1 meet on May 9 at Notre Dame High School.

The Lady Indians finished first with 108 points, followed by St. Paul Lutheran (Farmington) with 82, Hayti with 74, Valley with 60 and Dora with 52 to round out the top five. The St. Vincent boys claimed the district title with 146 points, ahead of Hayti with 98, Valle Catholic with 87, Van Buren with 76 and Dora with 45.

St. Vincent coach Abigail Schremp said the Indians enjoyed one of their best overall performances of the season.

“We brought home first for boys and for girls,” Schremp said. “We had a total of 12 first-place finishes, not including second, third and fourth-place finishes or other top-eight finishes for points. So it was a pretty exciting day.”

Jackson Seabaugh led the St. Vincent boys by winning both the 100-meter dash in 11.13 seconds and the 200 in 22.50. Kale Meyer placed third in the 100 at 11.58 and second in the 200 at 23.43.

Schremp said Seabaugh continued to shine in multiple events.

“Jack Seabaugh helped bring home three of them in the 100, 200 and 800 relay,” Schremp said.

Carter Hennemann added another district championship in the boys 400 with a winning time of 52.00 and also placed third in the 800 in 2:10.81. Carter Herman finished fourth in the 800 at 2:12.85.

Reagan Meyer paced the Lady Indians with victories in the 800 in 2:18.61 and the 1,600 in 5:22.17. Audrey Amschler placed fifth in the 800 at 2:45.95, while Anna Welker finished third in the 1,600 at 5:55.12 before winning the 3,200 in 13:13.98.

“Reagan Meyer helped bring home four of those first-place finishes in the girls 1,600-meter relay, 3,200-meter relay and 800,” Schremp said. “She’s amazing all around.”

Brynn Renner won the girls 400 in 1:02.64 and placed sixth in the 200 at 28.95, while Kaitlin Lobbig finished seventh in the 200 at 29.44 and fourth in the 400 at 1:05.24. Emma Moore added an eighth-place finish in the girls 100 at 14.00.

“Brynn Renner won the 400 and Anna Welker won the two mile, so that was exciting because those girls haven’t gotten a chance to win big races like that yet,” Schremp said. “They both did really good.”

The Indians also dominated several relay events.

The boys 800-meter relay team won in 1:32.47, while the girls 800-meter relay captured first in 1:54.54. The girls 1,600-meter relay also earned a district championship in 4:15.57, and the girls 3,200-meter relay won in 10:24.85. The boys 400-meter relay placed second in 45.39, while the girls 400-meter relay finished third in 55.26. The boys 3,200-meter relay added a third-place finish in 9:13.12.

In field events, Kellan Pitts finished second in both the boys long jump at 6.18 meters and triple jump at 11.95 meters while tying for first in the high jump at 1.75 meters. Mason Naeger tied for first in the high jump at 1.75 meters, placed sixth in the long jump at 5.73 meters, third in the triple jump at 11.67 meters and ninth in the javelin at 27.38 meters.

“Kellan Pitts set a new school record in long jump,” Schremp said. “Mason Nager brought home first in high jump.”

Other St. Vincent boys results included Luke Ryan placing sixth in the 1,600 in 5:24.55, Caden Hadler finishing eighth in the 1,600 in 5:25.53 and eighth in the 3,200 in 12:07.78, Jackson Strattman taking seventh in the 3,200 in 11:59.31, Noah Pecaut placing second in shot put at 12.87 meters and sixth in discus at 30.42 meters, Daniel Sauer finishing eighth in shot put at 10.16 meters and Austin Miller placing 10th in javelin at 24.17 meters. Alex Ponder added a 10th-place finish in discus at 27.86 meters.

Sydney Taylor took seventh in discus at 20.83 meters, 11th in long jump at 3.95 meters and fourth in triple jump at 8.70 meters. Camille Lauck competed in the long jump and triple jump.

The Indians now advance to the sectional meet Saturday at South Callaway High School in Mokane.

“We’re looking to see a lot of personal bests with some new competition,” Schremp said. “We’re hoping to take as many as we can to state once again.”
