FESTUS — Saxony Lutheran turned in a series of solid performances March 28 at the McCullough-Douglass Invitational, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes against a large and competitive field.
On the girls' side, the Crusaders were led by Casey Call, who tied for fourth in the pole vault (3.20 meters), while Madilynn Hager placed 23rd in the discus (26.31m).
The 1,600-meter relay team placed 13th in a time of 4 minutes, 35.54 seconds. Saxony also finished 18th in the 3,200 relay (11:30.88) as the team showed depth in distance events.
Raylee Matthews paced Saxony with a strong showing in the sprints and jumps. She placed 10th in the 400 (1:03.86), 12th in the 200 (27.69) and added a 20th-place finish in the long jump (4.57m).
The Saxony girls also received contributions from their relay and sprint groups, including a 24th-place finish in the 400 relay (55.58).
On the boys' side, Clark Jones led the Crusaders with a 5th-place finish in the javelin (45.33m), one of the team’s top performances of the meet. Jones also placed 29th in the long jump (5.56m).
Nashaun Davis added a strong showing on the track, placing 6th in the 110-meter hurdles (15.63), while Maksim Mayhew finished 19th in the 200 (23.11).
Saxony’s 400 relay team placed 17th (45.92), contributing to a balanced effort across multiple events.
