ST. VINCENT 10, GRANDVIEW 0

St. Vincent completed a two-game sweep with a commanding performance on April 10, defeating Grandview 10-0. The Indians jumped out early with 2 runs in the first inning and continued to add on, including a 4-run fourth inning to take control. St. Vincent finished with 10 runs on 9 hits.

Andrew Hotop had a big game, going 4-for-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, while Gus Unterreiner added 2 hits and scored twice.

Gavin Hotop contributed a hit and an RBI, and Avery Brown drove in a run. Quinton Whistler added an RBI, while Cain Clifton also plated a run.

St. Vincent was aggressive on the basepaths, racking up multiple stolen bases, including 2 from Andrew Hotop and additional steals from Gus Unterreiner, Cain Clifton and Trenten Welker.

On the mound, Tyler Hennemann earned the win, allowing just 1 hit over 4 innings while striking out 4. Quinton Whistler closed out the game with 2 scoreless innings, striking out 3.

Grandview was limited to just 1 hit for the second straight game and was unable to push a run across the plate.

St. Vincent’s pitching staff combined to allow just 2 hits over the 2-game sweep.


April 9

ST. VINCENT 9, GRANDVIEW 0

HILLSBORO — St. Vincent used a balanced offensive attack and dominant pitching to roll past Grandview 9-0 on April 9.

The Indians scored in 5 different innings, including a 5-run third inning that broke the game open early. St. Vincent finished with 9 runs on 10 hits.

Gavin Hotop led the way, going 3-for- 3 with 3 runs scored, while Andrew Schumer added 2 hits and 2 RBI. Avery Brown also drove in 2 runs, and Andrew Hotop contributed a hit and an RBI.

Van Tallent and Trenten Welker each added a hit and scored a run, while Cain Clifton and Austin Unterreiner also drove in runs in the win.

On the mound, Schumer was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout. He allowed just 1 hit over 7 innings while striking out 13 and walking none.

Grandview managed just 1 hit in the game and struggled to generate offense against Schumer, striking out 13 times.


April 8

SAXONY LUTHERAN 11, CHARLESTON 0

CHARLESTON — Saxony Lutheran put together a complete performance on April 8, rolling to an 11-0 victory over Charleston.

The Crusaders scored 2 runs in the first inning, added 8 more in the second, and tacked on another run late to finish with 11 runs on 8 hits.

Kai McDowell led the offense, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, while Eli Rademann added 2 hits and 2 RBI. Zach Roth continued his strong stretch with a hit and an RBI, and Walker Short contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Baylor Wilson also had a productive day, collecting 2 hits and driving in a run, while Dylan Johnson added a hit and an RBI. Layton Hoehne helped his own cause with a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Saxony Lutheran’s aggressive approach paid off early, as the Crusaders capitalized on scoring opportunities in the first two innings to quickly build a commanding lead.

On the mound, Rademann delivered a 5-inning shutout while allowing just 1 hit and striking out 10.

FESTUS 17, PERRYVILLE 0

FESTUS — Festus erupted offensively and shut down Perryville in a 17-0 victory on April 8.

The Tigers scored in every inning, including an 8-run fourth inning that put the game out of reach. Festus finished with 17 runs on 17 hits.

Perryville was held without a hit in the game, managing just 10 at-bats and drawing 2 walks.

Bryce Weber, Bryce Schmidt, Barrett Wheeler, Waylon Huber, Gavin Mayor, Aiden Stueve, Nolan Berhle and Parker Shelton each appeared in the lineup, but the Pirates were unable to generate any offensive momentum.

On the mound, Schmidt took the loss after allowing 12 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits over 3 innings. Brayden Amberger followed in relief, allowing 5 runs over 0.1 innings.

Festus was led by Good, who had 4 RBI, while Smith collected 3 hits and 2 RBI. Vernon drove in 3 runs, and Schaumburg added 2 hits and 2 RBI.

James earned the win on the mound, throwing 3 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts. Perry followed with 1 inning of relief to complete the combined no-hitter.

The Pirates committed 4 errors in the loss.


April 7

STE. GENEVIEVE 10, PERRYVILLE 3

Perryville couldn’t keep pace with Ste. Genevieve, falling 10-3 on April 7 at Veterans Memorial Field in Perryville.

The Pirates jumped out early with 2 runs in the first inning, but the Dragons answered with 3 runs in the top of the second and never looked back. Ste. Genevieve added runs in 5 different innings and finished with 10 runs on 10 hits.

Bryce Weber led Perryville at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple while scoring 2 runs. Gideon Stueve added a hit and scored a run, while Barrett Wheeler drove in a run. Bryce Schmidt also picked up an RBI for the Pirates.

Waylon Huber and Gideon Stueve each swiped 2 bases as Perryville tried to generate offense on the basepaths.

On the mound, Huber took the loss after allowing 10 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits over 3.1 innings while striking out 5. Parker Shelton struck out 5 in 2.2 innings, and Aiden Stueve added 1 inning of relief.

Ste. Genevieve was paced by Wolk, who went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Hill added 2 hits and 2 RBI, while Weibrecht and Bennett each drove in a run.
