Michael Buerck first became a grandparent in March 1991. Fast forward 30 years and he welcomed another grandchild as well as his first two great-grandsons within a 24-hour period July 21-22. In addition, he also had a great nephew and great niece arrive that same day.
Michael and Barb were watching their oldest grandchildren when the first baby arrived shortly before noon.
“We were up in St. Louis taking care of Ella, 5, and Carter, 2,” he said.
That’s when news of the first new arrival broke: Nora Jean, the daughter of Cory and Amber Buerck, born Wednesday, July 21, at 11:41 a.m.
Next up, it was Rory Jared, son of Jared and Bethany Kutz, who arrived July 21 at 2:15 p.m. Rory is a great nephew of Michael.
Third, it was Presley Elaine Bell, the daughter of Leslie and Jacob Bell, born July 21 at 3:06 p.m. Presley is a great niece of Michael.
A little more than eight hours later, at approximately 11:12 p.m., Rowan Marcus Perreault was born to Sam Horn and Justin Perreault. This arrival made Heather and Keith Perreault first-time grandparents.
Finally, at 11:02 a.m. Thursday, July 22, Kobe James was born to Katelyn and Dylan Buerck.Michael Buerck couldn’t be more proud of the new babies.
“I’m ecstatic,” Michael Buerck said. “Having this many children born into the family is great...I’m just thrilled. I can’t imagine anyone else having this many children born into the family in one 24-hour period. That’s awesome and everybody is healthy. This is just pretty cool. I’m excited for all the moms and dads and the whole family.

Michael is now up to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The growing family isn’t complete just yet. Michael’s daughter Katie is scheduled to have twins in mid-August. Two more additions are expected between now and September and another is due in January.
“We’re still going,” Michael said.
As for all of the newest additions on July 21, they’ve returned home.
“Everybody is home from the hospital and doing well,” he said.
Michael has seen four of six of them since they were released from the hospital
“They are just beautiful,” Buerck said. “This is very special.”
The family tree of Michael’s late mother, Catherine Schloss Buerck’s tree grew by five. Another baby, Henry Bugger, was born to Valerie and Ross Bugger July 21 at 3:51 p.m. at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He is the first cousin, twice removed to Mr. Buerck
Michael is the oldest of nine kids. He and his wife, Barb, live by Rock Valley Lake near Brewer.
“If you come to the Buerck family Christmas this year you’re probably gonna need a nametag to make sure you take home the right kid,” Michael said.
