CAPE GIRARDEAU — St. Vincent junior Carter Hennemann finished fourth in 16 minutes, 53.6 seconds in the annual Notre Dame XC Invite on Oct. 6 at Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, the highest finish among runners from Perryville, Saxony Lutheran and St. Vincent at the meet.
As a team, Perryville’s boys finished sixth with 208 points, while Saxony Lutheran was 10th with 230, and St. Vincent finished 13th with 264. Woodland won the boys team title with 51 points, followed by Jefferson in second with 90 and host Notre Dame in third, with 90 points, but one less finisher.
The boys’ 5,000-meter race featured 111 runners, led by Notre Dame’s Aidan Morris, who claimed the individual title with a time of 16:01.9. Jayden Metzler of St. Pius X was second in 16:33.6, and Woodland’s Calvin Layton was third in 16:52.5.
For Perryville, Clayton Bauwens was 16th in 18:04.8, Micah Brown was 46th in 19:33.1, Easton Blechle was 54th in 19:50.2, Rodney Rauh was 67th in 20:38.2, and Brandon Roth finished 79th in 21:19.2.
For Saxony Lutheran, Nicolas Chambless was 39th in 19:13.9, Evan Ward was 44th in 19:23.8, Jacob Schupp was 47th in 19:33.1, Mark Richey was 56th in 20:01.1, Silas Hohenadel was 109th in 25:57.7, and Noah Meyr finished 110th in 26:05.7.
Rounding out the list for St. Vincent, Collin Tilley was 64th in 20:33.5, Jackson Strattman was 65th in 20:33.8, Noah Winschel was 96th in 22:56.7, and Tristin Anders was 106th in 25:10.2, followed by Luke Ryan in 107th with a time of 25:19.7.
On the girls’ side, St. Vincent’s Anna Welker led the local contingent, finishing eighth in 22:00.6, followed by Reagan Meyer in 10th with a time of 22:17.3.
Welker and Meyer’s top-10 finishes helped the Lady Indians to a fifth-place team finish. Notre Dame finished first in the team standings with 52 points, followed by Jackson with 69. Saxony Lutheran was third with 77 points, and Poplar Bluff was fourth with 112. Perryville didn’t have enough runners to place in the team competition.
Notre Dame’s Martina Ressel and Lily Coy finished first and second, with respective times of 18:43.6 and 19:14.2, while Woodland’s Faith Rouggly was third in 20:47.3, Jackson’s Halle KING was fourth in 21:23.3, and Gabrielle Campbell of Bayless was fifth in 21:29.8.
Individually for Saxony Lutheran, Emmy Bengtson was 13th in 22:38.3, Raylee Matthews was 14th in 22:48.3, Eva Williamson was 29th in 24:18.4, Adalyn Brandhorst was 31st in 24:28.9, Briley Meyr was 37th in 25:02.9, Gretchen Wolfe was 47th in 25:53.3, and Allee McKee was 68th among the race’s 85 finishers with a time of 29:21.2.
Outside of St. Vincent’s top-10 finishers, 35 Audrey Amschler was 35th in 24:46.5, 70 Adeline Carlton was 70th in 29:51.4, and sisters Sybina and Sybella Nations were 74th in 30:51.7 and 76th in 31:35.4, respectively.
For Perryville, Anna Rehagen was 50th in 26:24.0, Katie Baggett was 63rd in 27:55.7, and Eloise Bollinger was 75th in 30:56.7.
