History came quickly — and emphatically — for St. Vincent senior Lana Adams.
Already one of the most prolific scorers in program history, Adams added another milestone April 2 at The Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex, breaking the school’s all-time scoring record as the Lady Indians rolled to an 8-0 victory over Farmington.
Adams finished with 3 goals and 2 assists, pushing her career total to 117 goals and surpassing the previous mark of 114 set by former St. Vincent standout and coach Caitlin Pistorio.
The record-setting performance highlighted another dominant outing for the Lady Indians, who improved to 6-1 on the season while continuing to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the state.
“Lana is a great kid and a great teammate,” St. Vincent head coach Cari Barnes said. “She’s obviously a special player, but what stands out is how she supports everyone around her and does whatever it takes to help the team win.”
The University of Missouri signee has been on a tear through the opening weeks of the season. Through 7 games, Adams leads the state with 21 goals, 9 assists and 59 points, setting the tone for a St. Vincent offense that has been difficult to slow down.
Against Farmington (1-2), the Lady Indians wasted little time asserting control.
St. Vincent built a 5-0 lead by halftime and never looked back, controlling possession and dictating the pace throughout. The Lady Indians’ ability to move the ball quickly and play cohesively stood out, something Barnes emphasized has been a key point of focus early in the season.
“I feel like we came out and executed our game plan very well,” Barnes said. “We’ve been working on moving the ball quickly and playing together, and I thought we did that.”
Adams was not alone in the scoring column.
Sloane Wibbenmeyer delivered a standout performance with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Sadie Cissell added a goal and Aubrey Emmendorfer contributed 3 assists. The balanced attack underscored the Lady Indians’ depth and unselfish play, something Barnes credited for the team’s early success.
“Our girls are just playing together,” Barnes said. “They don’t care who scores or who gets the assist. They’re just excited to play and get the win.”
Defensively, St. Vincent remained just as sharp.
Goalkeeper Chloe House recorded the shutout, helping anchor a defense that has allowed just 7 goals through 7 games. The Lady Indians limited Farmington’s opportunities throughout, maintaining control from start to finish.
For Adams, the record was the culmination of years of work and perseverance.
After scoring 53 goals as a junior and battling through injury earlier in her career, she entered the season within striking distance of the milestone. With another explosive start this spring, she wasted little time etching her name atop the program’s record book.
Now, with the record in hand and her senior season still unfolding, Adams and the Lady Indians appear far from finished.
St. Vincent returns a core of experienced players along with a strong group of newcomers, creating a blend that has translated into early success. With chemistry continuing to build, Barnes believes the team has the potential to make another deep postseason run.
“We have a really good mindset right now,” Barnes said. “The girls are playing together, having fun and working hard. That’s what you want to see.”
On a night filled with goals, the biggest moment belonged to Adams — a record- breaking performance that not only secured another win, but also cemented her place in St. Vincent history.
