Wernold L. Kassel

Wernold L. Kassel “Cowboy”, 88, of Jackson, formerly of Uniontown, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
He was born January 29, 1935, near Uniontown, to August Edward and Lydia Christina Jungclaus Kassel. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown.
Wernold was a graduate of Perryville High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 7, 1957. Primarily stationed in Alaska, he specialized in electricity and was skilled in MKM and SS Rifles. He was honorably discharged on June 6, 1960.
Wernold farmed near Uniontown, and also worked at the Kassel Saw Mill in Uniontown, Kassel Rock Quarry in Old Appleton, and Franke’s Nursery in Jackson. Friends will remember Wernold as a frugal man who regularly enjoyed visiting folks at the East Perry Pub in Frohna

He is survived by cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Milton N. Kassel, Lois (Clinton) Wendel, and Luella (Alvin) Ludwig.
Following a private service, military rites will be rendered at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
