St. Vincent sweeps team titles at Chaffee

CHAFFEE — St. Vincent delivered a dominant, all-around performance April 23, sweeping the boys and girls team championships at the Chaffee Red Devils Invitational.

The Indians won the boys title with 126 points, finishing ahead of Scott City (114), Caruthersville (92), Woodland (80) and Malden (48).

On the girls side, St. Vincent scored 133 points to claim the title over Woodland (78), Chaffee (72), Malden (51) and Doniphan (49).

The St. Vincent boys used balanced scoring across the board to secure the team victory.

Jack Seabaugh led the sprint efforts with a win in the 100 meters (11.23 seconds), while Kale Meyer placed fourth (11.85). Meyer also added a third-place finish in the 200 (23.73), with Bo Burgin finishing fifth (24.99).

In the 400, Carter Hennemann placed second (52.39), followed by Hunter Mattingly in sixth (57.10). Hennemann also won the 800 (2 minutes, 5.93 seconds), while Carter Herman placed fifth (2:14.74).

The distance crew added key points, as Caden Hadler placed fifth in the 1,600 (5:30.89) and Jackson Strattman finished sixth (5:36.35). Strattman also placed fourth in the 3,200 (12:13.33), while Collin Tilley took fifth (12:39.01).

In relays, St. Vincent placed second in the 400-meter relay (46.04), won the 800-meter relay (1:33.60) and finished third in the 3,200-meter relay (9:28.81).

The Indians were also strong in the field events. Mason Naeger placed second in the high jump (1.80 meters) and fourth in the triple jump (11.28), while Kellan Pitts finished third in the long jump (5.34), fifth in the high jump (1.70) and second in the triple jump (12.15).

Noah Pecaut placed fourth in the shot put (12.59 meters) and 14th in the discus (29.71), while Alex Ponder finished 17th in the shot put (9.24). Daniel Sauer placed 21st in the discus (23.38).

Naeger also placed 15th in the javelin (28.97), while Kelby Meyer finished 18th (26.29).

The St. Vincent girls were equally dominant, winning multiple individual events and sweeping several relays.

Reagan Meyer won the 100 (13.39) and 800 (2:12.56), while Emma Moore placed fourth in the 100 (13.83), fifth in the 200 (29.42) and fourth in the 400 (1:07.22).

Kaitlin Lobbig won the 400 (1:05.13), while Brynn Renner added a third-place finish in the 200 (28.68).

In distance events, Anna Welker won both the 1,600 (5:58.66) and 3,200 (13:06.93), while Adeline Carlton placed third in the 3,200 (15:28.11). Audrey Amschler added a fourth-place finish in the 800 (2:48.04).

St. Vincent dominated the relays, finishing second in the 400-meter relay (55.66), first in the 800-meter relay (1:54.69), first in the 1,600-meter relay (4:29.11) and first in the 3,200-meter relay (10:36.74).

In the field events, Sydney Taylor placed fourth in the long jump (4.13 meters), fourth in the triple jump (8.56) and ninth in the discus (21.48).

Taylor Schumer placed ninth in the shot put (7.79 meters), 16th in the discus (19.32) and tied for 10th in the javelin (21.65), while Sybina Nations finished 18th in the shot put (6.91) and 14th in the javelin (19.52).

Camille Lauck placed 15th in the long jump (2.99) and fifth in the triple jump (6.46).
